Dorothea Lange Research
Born in Hoboken, New Jersey on May 26, 1895
Lange was educated in photography in New York City, in a class taught by Clarence H. White. She was informally apprenticed to several New York photography studios, including that of the famed Arnold Genthe. In 1918, she moved to San Francisco, and by the following year she had opened a successful portrait studio.
I like this photo because of the reflection in the car mirror. After doing an assignment on reflections and frames, this got be to notice the angle and the technique used in the image. The floating head technique was used for this one. the facial expression and the blurriness of the mirror makes the photo mysterious.
This photo is good because this photo is emotionless. The person in the photo has his hand covering the bottom half of his face, which makes us focus on his eyes. He looks emotionless in the photo.
I like this photo because of the contrast of black background with white clothing and hair on the man. This brings my eyes to focus on the man in the foreground because of the contrast and the lack of background.
